Garantía de legalidad como base del rule of law
The Association of Prosecutors (Asociación de Fiscales) is an independent professional organisation with no political affiliation. It was established pursuant to Article 127 of the Spanish Constitution of 1978 and operates under Article 54 of the Organic Statute of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of 1981. Its membership is composed exclusively of active members of the Spanish Prosecution Service, ensuring that the Association directly represents the professional interests and perspectives of serving prosecutors.
As the largest association within the Spanish Prosecution Service, the Association of Prosecutors plays a representative role in conveying the views and concerns of Spanish prosecutors to national and international institutions. In the 2026 elections to the Fiscal Council, candidates endorsed by the Association received 66,29 % of the votes cast, reflecting the broad support they enjoy among Spanish prosecutors.
The Association remains firmly committed to the defence of the rule of law, the independence of the judiciary and the prosecution service, and the principles of legality, equality and legal certainty. We believe that a strong, impartial and independent prosecution service is essential to safeguarding democratic institutions, protecting fundamental rights and maintaining public confidence in the administration of justice.
